"Delay is the greatest remedy for anger. Ask of your anger, at the outset, not to grant forgiveness but to exercise judgment. Its first impulses are harsh ones; it will relent if it waits."

About this book

In this post truth world, anything can trigger an angry outburst. Anger is the most savage and the ugliest of all emotions, according to Seneca, it departs you from sanity. ‘Delay is the greatest remedy for anger. Ask of your anger, at the outset, not to grant forgiveness but to exercise judgment. Its first impulses are harsh ones; it will relent if it waits. And don’t try to get rid of it all at once; it will be wholly defected if it is carved away by pieces’ (De Ira, 2.29) If you would like to attain tranquillity, be less aware, do not worry about things that are outside of your control. Take note of the events and situations that make you angry and reflect daily. Be mindful of your own failure and keep yourself humble. When you can control your anger, you benefit yourself and society.
