About this book

Frédèric Lagrange, as a child, remembers his grandfather would always sparkle at the memory of the day the Germans ran away from the sight of a squad of strong Mongol soldiers who rescued him and other prisoners in the late 1944 and how all of them, American, British, French and the Mongol soldiers jumped into each other’s arms blissfully. It imprinted in his mind and laid the groundwork for his interest in Mongolia and Mongols. Mongolia is a 17-year long project that saw Frédéric traverse the country’s dramatically changing climates and landscapes. He captured the emotions and characters of this enigmatic and rugged place and immersed himself with the locals becoming an observer of their lives.
