About this book
Anthropocene (the human epoch), is a geological epoch coined by Nobel prize winner, Paul Crutzen that has to a large extent, assisted researchers in stating how the earth and human society function together. The human constitutes a literal force of nature sufficiently dominant to determine the future of earth. The interlacing of earth and human history helps scientists assert the rise of mercantile capitalism in the 16th and 17th centuries as the start of Anthropocene. The environmental destruction intersects with the systemic failures of late capitalist society. If we refuse to accept the existence of Anthropocene, and its multifarious connotations, we may hesitate to accept responsibility for the environmental disasters caused by human. Our survival depends on all academic disciplines and governments working together for feasible solutions in ceasing further harm to the earth.
