THE SOULROOM COFFEE
Hong Kong’s first astrology and tarot-reading café is elevating HK coffee culture to a higher spiritual plane. Soulroom’s Chinese name means “Grass and Wood”, traditionally burned for purification and calm before a tarot reading. In its greenery-filled premises in Sham Shui Po, Soulroom blends the soothing stimulation of coffee with opportunities to plant seeds for inner growth.
The workshop includes a 30-min private tarot consultation, and coffee brewed with your choice of seven single-origin beans capturing the essence of the Seven Wonders.
*Syphon coffee served at weekend workshops. Hand drip available Mon-Fri.
SEVEN WONDERS COFFEE
The Star
Panama
Hacienda La Esmeralda Green Label Natural
Exquisitely complex. Real creativity changes everything its (star)light touches. In the Highlands of south-west Panama, Hacienda La Esmeralda made waves in the specialty coffee world by growing Ethiopian Geisha coffee at altitude in volcanic soil, for a multifaceted citrus-floral-sweetness balance that earned the Geisha varietal its revered status, numerous global awards and the nickname “God in a cup”.
The Magician
Panama
Hacienda La Esmeralda Blue Label Washed
Satin and spice. An enigmatic aroma unfolds its dark secrets slowly, like the mastery of the Magician. Hacienda La Esmeralda wet-processes its Blue Label Geisha coffee to capture the pure intrinsic flavours of the bean.
The World
Costa Rica
Las Lajas Estate Perla Negra
Fruitcake-rich, syrupy and ripe. In coffee as in design, acts of radical simplicity can unearth the world’s richest jewels. Finca Las Lajas was the first estate in Costa Rica to be certified organic, and is renowned for rigorous growing processes and experimentalism. Perla Negra (Black Pearl) is its most famous product: hand-picked cherries are dried under a black shroud to increase warmth and intensify natural sugars. The result is a bouquet of ripe fruit flavours.
The Tower
Panama
Elida El Burro Estate Caturra 100% African Drying Bed Natural
Explosive power meets sweetness. Ultra-bright flavours channel the Maximalist energy of fashion titans. Organically grown in young volcanic soil at altitude, Elida and El Burro estates’ coffee flourishes in a cold microclimate which extends ripening time. A starburst of sharp citrus notes with a light, subtle finish.
The Emperor
Colombia
Microlot Huila San Adolfo Pink Bourbon Washed
Quietly extravagant. The master craftsman’s skill reigns supreme when the going is hard. Harvested on the small farms of the San Adolfo municipality, Pink Bourbon is a rare and delicate hybrid whose rich flavour profile repays the effort to cultivate it. Wet processing allows its floral high notes and chocolatey body to shine through.
The Lovers
Ethiopia
Yirgacheffe Gedeb G1 Washed Gelena Washing Station
Sweet harmony. Discordant flavours clash in perfect unison, like a modern love story. This heirloom coffee is grown on smallholder’s garden plots in southern Ethiopia’s Gedeb district. Yirgacheffe has earned a global following for balancing sweetness with chocolate depth, crisp acidity and a clean finish. Fruit notes of peach and white flowers.
The Sun
Ethiopia
Guji Oromia G1 Natural
Sun-drenched pleasure. A bold, forward coffee inviting you to bask in brightness. Coffee-farming has ancient roots in Guji, and the region’s unique flavours are carving out an identity distinct from its famous neighbour Yirgacheffe. This Grade 1 dried-in-the-fruit coffee yields layers of jammy mixed berry and heady fragrant florals.
