Haas is one of the 20th century's great photojournalists, an early member of the great Magnum Photos cooperative, known for reportage and commercial images of America and who was famous enough in his prime to have been the subject of a Museum of Modern Art exhibit in 1962 . He was also a regular on movie sets. His film still works include Carol Reed’s The Third Man, William Wyler’s The Big Country, The Greatest Story Ever Told and West Side Story.
