Robert Mercier, born January 12, 1977 in Issoudum, France, trained as a Saddlery and Leather good craftsman in his home town.
After having worked for many years for Hermès, Louis Vuitton and then Céline, Robert created his own company in 2015 under the name of Gienah, where he combined his know-how and craftsmanship with his taste for noble materials and exceptional objects.
Robert draws his inspiration from several universes such as the Art of Francis Bacon and Pierre Soulage, the Fashion of Alexander McQueen and Rick Owens, as well as the Cinema of Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock.
As a self-taught expert, he knows how to shape and sculpt wood to reach perfection, just like with leather, which has become like a second skin.
Robert, through this exhibition, presents his first collection of bags and objects born out of his passion for Art, which began with the cinematographic works of the great master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock.
