1979 rue du Recherches-Midi: Jacobo Romano and Jorge Zulueta – founders of Grupo Accion Instrumental created in Buenos Aires renewing the traditional opera genre – meet Paco Rabanne for the first time in his Parisian office.
This is the beginning of a long collaboration with the prophetic designer and of a prolific collection composed by the two artists: costumes coming directly from Paco Rabanne shows, anti-dresses which they will make characters in their operas, emblematic pieces that tell of a futurism so avant-garde that it seems never to have been caught up with by the present.
Far from being dated, the couturier’s creative approach now finds a disturbing echo in the fundamentals of the news. Master of the great time gap, Paco Rabanne knew better than anyone how to draw in history to project it into the future; so are these inspired dresses medieval cut for the coming century or those pieces from the distant past yet being one step ahead of their time. Or the art – so contemporary – of telescope without filter and without detouring historicism and futurism.
Always revolutionary Paco Rabanne was a prophet well beyond his time: his irreverence paved the way for creative souls half a century later.
If you need to be on time you can go to Dior, Givenchy, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Miyake! But if you need to be in advance, Paco Rabanne is the right place to be!
