MADAME CHANTAL THOMASS 40 YEARS OF FASHION

JOYCE GALLERY Paris showcases emblematic pieces from the auction MADAME CHANTAL THOMASS “40 years of fashion”

“I’ve always loved fashion and especially mine! ” Chantal Thomass – together with Kenzo, Jean Charles de Castelbajac, Thierry Mugler, Claude Montana, Anne Marie Beretta, Sonia Rykiel – was in the 70s one of the major figures of the wave of French designers .

These eclectic designers with a recognizable style who will draw the woman of the 80’s and 90’s. Irreverent and eminently creative, this new guard will embrace generations and bring new energy to Parisian fashion.

In this movement, Chantal Thomass defines the contours of a new femininity: extravagant, free, carnal, suffused with humor and winks. She is the great instigator of the masculine – feminine, the veiled – unveiled, easily borrowing fabrics and spirit from the masculine wardrobe. A unique fashion that emphasizes and reshapes the body. Greta Garbo, Louise Brooks, Marlene Dietrich, Joséphine Baker are her heroines. Lace, knots, pink and black are her favorites…
