JOYCE AND CENTRESTAGE WELCOME JOSEPH ALTUZARRA

JOYCE AND CENTRESTAGE (4-7 SEPTEMBER 2019) WILL BE HOSTING THE NEW YORK BASED DESIGNER JOSEPH ALTUZARRA IN HONG KONG.

Born and raised in Paris, the multicultural designer is influenced by culture, dance, film and literature to fine art and crafts in his sophisticated collections. In 2018, he received the CFDA’s American Image Award for Designer of the Year, having won Womenswear Designer of the Year 2014 and Accessories Designer of the Year 2017.

After his headlining runway show at Centrestage Hong Kong, Altuzarra will be meeting the media and hosting a trunk show for JOYCE’s VIP members. There, we’ll preview the FW19 collection of sensual leathers jackets, shearling and fur collars, paisley prints and plissé lamé skirts (with models available for pre-order). The standout ‘PLAY’ bag is all about contrasts. Soft and sensual in shape but structured and practical it’s at once classic and provocative.

“The bag evokes the two sides of the Altuzarra woman’s identity: the public persona, classic and timeless, and the hidden alter ego, darker and undone,” says the designer.

Having caught onto the transformative power of fashion from a young age, Altuzarra launched his eponymous brand in New York in 2008, with the vision of building a modern wardrobe for women to feel confident and sexy in their everyday lives. Winning the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2011 and the endorsement of the American fashion industry, the accolades soon followed including Forbes’ 30 Under 30, Swarovski Award for Womenswear Design and the Woolmark Prize.

Now, bringing his sophisticated cultural and stylistic blend to Hong Kong at JOYCE and CENTRESTAGE, Joseph Altuzarra will no doubt be meeting longtime fans and making new ones.
