PARIS-BASED DESIGNER PHENOMENON MARINE SERRE SHOOTS FOR THE STARS – STOPPING OFF AT JOYCE HONG KONG ON THE WAY…
For the past two years, the French Fashion Council has been abuzz with the name of a new kid on le bloc. And quite rightly so – in the past couple of years Marine Serre has led an upheaval of French high fashion. Winner of 2017 LVMH Prize, hers is the perfect example of raw talent, reminding us that even after entering the rarefied atmosphere of high fashion, it is possible to remain grounded.
By naming her Spring 2019 collection “Hardcore Couture”, Serre perfectly sums up her approach to fashion. Her ‘sportif’ futurewear was inspired by the toughness of succeeding in the fashion industry and the adrenaline rush of Formula 1 racing, with 50% of her garments created from upcycled materials. Her latest Fall/Winter 2019 collection “Radiation” displayed a progression in this hybrid mixture of classic French couture shapes, savoir-faire and the designer’s increasingly signature use of sportswear fabrics. A decisive ecofuturist thematic and vision is presented to a background of colliding cultural and epochal references. Never shying away from her Counterculture roots and often radical political conviction, Marine Serre always has a statement to make – and this season she speaks in flouro-lycra bodysuits.
In addition to her current collection, Serre presents an active spacewear-inspired capsule range designed exclusively for JOYCE customers. Select key pieces are reimagined in unique colourways including moonblue shellsuits and lycra dresses to layer over slick moongrey bodysuits.
On the 29th of August, Marine Serre visits the JOYCE Harbour City store to meet and share styling concepts with Hong Kong’s most influential stylists. This will be followed by her exploration of the city’s antique and curiosity treasure troves for future inspiration.
