JOYCE SUPPORTS THE ONE INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN PROJECT WITH A CHRISTMAS INITIATIVE THAT GIVES BACK TO THOSE IN NEED
“When the World is in chaos, give me a hero.” – David Harilela, Founder and Global Chair of THE ONE.
Christmas is the time for giving. And what better way to celebrate this Festive Season than to give back to those most in need? This Christmas, THE ONE International Humanitarian Project is joining forces with iconic fashion retailer JOYCE to give back to those in need. Known for its portfolio of innovative designers, JOYCE has called upon its community of friends and creatives to design over 50 one-of-a-kind stockings for the holidays, which will be sold to benefit THE ONE.
Collaborators come from all creative fields from fashion to interior design and include the likes of Christopher Kane, Charles Jeffrey, Dries Van Noten, Hed Mayner, Marni, Rokh, sacai, Thom Browne and Victoria Beckham. Popular faces from the local community that have also contributed include singer Fiona Sit (薛凱琪), actress Karena Lam (林嘉欣), art director Man Lim Chung (文念中), and artist Stephy Tang (鄧麗欣).
The stockings will be unveiled at the Home for Christmas seasonal kick-off event on November 14th at the JOYCE Central flagship store and will be available for purchase in-store until stocks last. All proceeds from sales of the stockings will be donated to THE ONE which awards US$205,000+ to three exceptional humanitarians every year. The funds have enabled awardees to build mobile ambulances, schools, medical centres, homes for the needy, and provide food, water and medicine to tens of thousands.
“We’re extremely grateful to have the support of JOYCE and so many renowned designers and creators. Each stocking is as unique as the humanitarians we honour and help. The proceeds will support heroes who lift individuals, children and families out of poverty and suffering every day.” – David Harilela, Founder and Global Chair of THE ONE.
ABOUT THE ONE INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN PROJECT
THE ONE, was conceptualized and founded by Past District Governor David Harilela 2011-2012, and is the first international humanitarian award launched by Rotary International District 3450 (RI D3450). The award aims to find the unsung hero of today by accessing the powerful Rotary network of over 1.2 million people. As signified by the Rotary motto, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.
THE ONE award is presented to a special caring individual who truly puts Service Above Self – THE ONE who dedicates his life to helping those in need every single day. This individual dedicates themselves to the improvement of mankind, works for the highest standard of good, acts with compassion and kindness and can come from any part of the world, regardless of gender, race or ethnic background. The winner will be awarded prize money of US$100,000, with two runners-up being granted US$50,000. The award money must be used to further the awardees’ respective humanitarian-cause and service projects.
