JOYCE TURNS THIS FESTIVE SEASON UPSIDE DOWN WITH THE STRANGE MAGIC OF DOROTHY’S OZ
“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
This Holiday Season sees JOYCE flip a traditional seasonal paradigm on its head. Christmas 2018 sees the worlds of Dorothy’s Land of OZ brought to life through the eyes of nostalgic 1980s Sci-fi thriller Stranger Things. The paranormal and reality collide in a shimmering universe of alternate dimensions as JOYCE takes us on a trip through Emerald Cities, kaleidoscopic fairy lights, crystal grottos, and gingerbread houses.
A mind-blowing installation of an 80’s Indiana cabin and mirroring parallel Land of Oz floats in the expanse of the JOYCE Central store’s window. Festive shoppers can expect to be treated to a climactic twist as Christmas nears, when the display is flipped underbelly-up to reveal the Emerald City atop the house in early December. The Upside Down becomes a reality as the glimmering green spires of the Emerald Towers light up, filling the window with a mystical glow.
Customers are treated to a different take on Christmas gifting with a capsule collection of 80s-inspired Christmas jumpers created by JOYCE designers from across the globe. The likes of Yohji Yamamoto, Proenza Schouler, Charles Jeffery, JW Anderson, ALYX and Christopher Kane have each contributed exclusive festive sweaters for the JOYCE ‘Upside Down’ collection. Each piece echoes the red, grey and black colour scheme of Stranger Thing’s Sci-fi suburbia.
Continuing down the path of the supernatural, the JOYCE Cabinet Crystal-mas Grotto offers an alternative gifting idea. Giant clusters quartz, amethyst, lapis, citrine and pyrite form a shimmering spectrum of naturally occurring crystals – each with age-old symbolism and powerful energies. Treat friends and loved ones to the gift of joy, peace, health and prosperity… as well a sure-fire talking point for their mantelpiece.
Cookie Wizards The Biscuiteers bring an decorative traditional biscuit tins with a twist. Along with other Holiday themed biscuit selections and gingerbread creations, Munchkin-sized Christmas jumpers, crystals, trees and Emerald towers fill a 14-piece custom-designed JOYCE and On Pedder tin for customers to gift, enjoy and collect.
