  • Following on from the successful “Upcycle Project” with the Institute of Textiles & Clothing (ITC), Joyce Cares is proud to present a new collaboration with the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) called the “Talent Shop”. Its aim is to provide young designers a concrete business platform to showcase their work and creativity, while encouraging young creative individuals to fulfill their dreams in the fashion industry. The project is part of Joyce’s on-going mission to promote sustainability and corporate social responsibility through partnerships with local institutions while providing retail support and opportunities to aspiring designers and visionaries.

Members of HKDI’s faculty shortlisted four existing ready-to-wear labels which were reviewed by Joyce’s management team, these labels are designed by the institute’s most promising and talented alumni including A Tentative Atelier, MODEMENT, The World Is Your Oyster, and Wan & Wong Fashion.

Joyce has pledged HKD$10,000 worth of financial sponsorship to each brand in addition to an opportunity to retail their collections at Joyce Cares PMQ from August to October 2014. Joyce will further extend its support in all areas of retail, including operations, visual merchandising, marketing, and business planning.

    A Tentative Atelier

A Tentative Atelier was established by design duo Nam T. and Pauline Y. in 2012. Based between Hong Kong and the UK, the label does not just focus on fashion and is a platform to showcase the spirit and tradition of craftsmanship. The design team is supported by tailors and machinists who are considered the last remaining generation of Shanghai artisans. The collections, which are divided into two lines consisting of an artisinal collection and a more commercial line, are presented during Paris fashion week.

MODEMENT is a Hong Kong based fashion label established in 2010. Created by designer Aries Sin, this unisex line references menswear with its minimal cuts and outstanding silhouettes. Most collections are strongly influenced by the multi-faceted culture of Hong Kong, ranging from hybridised city landscape to vernacular food stores. Every single garment carries a meaning of its own which inspires, communicates to and finally enhances the wearer.

    The World Is Your Oyster

The World Is your Oyster is a menswear label founded in early 2014 by Calvin Chan and his partner, Joyce Kun. It aims to provide style essentials for gentlemen of the new generation. Their vision of menswear embraces characteristics of formal tailoring which is contrasted with a touch of street wear. The collections often feature clean silhouettes and a surprising choice of materials in order to provide just the right amount of drama.
