CREATIVE CLASS

03 Jan 2014

  • Joyce congratulates three young and talented designers on their new roles. J.W. Anderson and David Koma have been appointed as creative directors at Loewe and Mugler respectively, while Anthony Vaccarello has been handpicked by Donatella Versace, to join forces with her and design the forthcoming collection for Versus. Joyce spotted these designers’ talents when they first emerged on the fashion scene and have been bringing their designs to Hong Kong and China ever since. We are proud to show our continuous support to their eponymous labels and present their SS14 collections to you.

    J.W. ANDERSON

A clever juxtaposition of different kinds of fabrics: pleather and leather, nylon and silk, with the aid of intricate workmanship such as pleating, draping, origami like folding and knotting. Each garment morphs to become a 3D sculpture that moves in tandem with the body giving a gracious effect. The sharp tailoring creates crisp and clean silhouettes, while the soft fabrics add a touch of lightness and fluidity, which is the perfect formula for a summer city wardrobe.

    DAVID KOMA

David Koma’s dresses are designed for divas like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Rihanna - and the spring summer collection is no exception. Signature body-con dresses come in colour blocking monochrome and contrasting graphics. Asymmetrical tailoring with sheer fabrics reveals just enough to retain its high-octane sex appeal.

    ANTHONY VACCARELLO

Plunging neckline, miniskirts, slashing slit, brass details, bleached jeans… it is little wonder why Donatella Versace announced that Anthony Vaccarello is the next Versus’ designer. His aesthetics resonate with the classic 90s Versace sexiness. The sharp tailored jacket and the floaty lacey dresses remind us how desirable sexy can be.
