Glenn Eugen Ellingsen loves capturing the juxtaposed tensions between natural landscapes and man-made cityscapes. His photography is an extension of his memories. These images communicate his feelings and somehow amplify the moments he experienced.
The Hong Kong based photographer’s latest exhibition at Joyce Gallery Shanghai is named Colour Memories. The collection of images explores his personal relationship between his birthplace in Bergen, Norway and his current home in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong.
He draws inspiration from his youth spent in his hometown — the rugged cold countryside surrounding Bergen. Each image captures a personal moment, mood or feeling in a particular situation. And every one of the images is set in vibrant multi-colour frames, which add a surreal dimension to the otherwise intimate and serene images.
Colour Memories at Joyce Gallery Shanghai till 30th April, 2014.
