Photography is one of the best mediums to record memories but the photograph (memory) remains a fragmentation of the experience. They are used to remind you of the surroundings in the photograph's and not necessarily what's in the photograph's.
COLOUR MEMORIES is a series of recorded memories by GLENN OCEAN. Highlighting the concept of the "whole" memory, using the negative space around the photograph to exercise the mind to think beyond the traditional frame.
My work explores relationships: between people and nature, and between people and the city. Capturing interactions amongst the settings of natural landscapes and artificial cityscapes.
Photography extends my memories, communicates my feelings and amplifies the moments I experience. I capture feelings, a mood or a situation that others might overlook; contradictions of stereotypical views.
I draw inspiration from a youth spent in the countryside surrounding Bergen, Norway and an adolescence spent in cities and the suburbs. My photography reflects my personal relationships between my twin homes of Bergen, Norway, and Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong.
